SC Villa must need to beat Rwanda champions APR if they are to reach the semi-finals of the Cecafa Kagame Cup 2024.
The 3-time Kagame Cup winners sit second on the Group C log with four points, two behind APR who need just a draw to confirm their place in the semis.
Morley Byekwaso, winner of the trophy as a player for Villa understands a win is a must.
“We need to win against APR but we know it won’t be easy,” said Byekwaso. “The worst should be a draw in order to see us secure place in the last four,” he added.
With just the group leader and one best second placed team, both Villa and APR know the importance of the lunch time clash.
Why a draw may not be enough for Villa
A draw will leave Villa in second place with five points in group C. However, there is a possibility of guest team Red Arrows to finish with 6 points in second place in group B if they beat ASAS Telecom which is most likely.
In Group A, Al Awadi (Sudan), JKU (Zanzibar) and Coastal Union (Tanzania) could all finish with 6 points but in second place.
