
The draws for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 qualifiers have been conducted at Al Hazm in Doha, Qatar.
The qualifiers will be played in six dedicated windows between November 2025 and March 2027.
In the African Qualifiers, Uganda was drawn into Group D alongside familiar foes Mali, Angola and Egypt.
It should be noted that during the qualifying for the previous two editions of the Basketball World Cup (2019 and 2023), Uganda drew Mali in the first round.
With each qualification, the Silverbaacks have improve their placing. During the qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup, Uganda couldn’t go past the first round. They however advanced to the second round during the qualifiers for the 2023 edition.

Qualification Pathway
African Qualifers for the World Cup will be played over two rounds. The first round will involve all the 16 teams drawn in the four groups with each team facing its respective group opponents twice.
The top three teams from each group will then advance to the second round of the qualifiers from which the top five will advance to the global showpiece that will be staged in Qatar.

- Feb 27, 2026: Uganda vs. Mali
- March 1, 2026: Uganda vs. Egypt
- July 2, 2026: Uganda vs. Angola
- July 3, 2026: Mali vs. Uganda
- July 5, 2026: Egypt vs. Uganda
