Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) became the first school to advance to the semi-final of the on-going 2025 USSSA Boys’ football championship in Ngora.
JIPRA beat high-flying Mentor SS from Lira 1-0 in the opening quarter final at Ngora High School playground, overlooking the beautiful Ngora hills on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Richard Okello, the team captain of the World Cup bound Uganda U-17 national team scored the match winner in a match watched by a big crowd.
At the round of 16, JIPRA had eliminated the reigning champions St Julian High School 3-1 with Asuman Kayondo and Simon Achiidi (brace) the scorers.
James Ssekate scored the consolation for St Julian High School.
Other quarter final matches:
The other quarter final duels have Kyadondo SS against Bukedea Comprehensive School, giants St Mary’s Kitende with Kibuli SS and Buddo SS up against Uganda Marytrs Lubaga.
The semi-finals will be played on Tuesday, 13th May 2025 ahead of the final show-down the following day.
Over 1600 players featured in this championship organised by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA).
All the 64 schools received two sets of jerseys from the organizers.
