
Three Uganda junior female golfers performed well during the 2025 US Kids Big 5 South African Open championship at the Magallies park golf club.
Elizabeth Mwagale (Gold), Jenny Arianna Tumwesigue (Bronze) and Danelle Kawalya (Bronze) all made podium finishes.
Elizabeth Mwagale won the girls 8 and under cluster.
Mwagale scored a total of 141 strokes in three rounds (49, 50 and 42).
South African Chloe Marais (146) and Great Britain’s Charlotte Johnston Aucamp (155) earned silver and bronze respectively.
Jenny Arianna Tumwesigye finished with bronze in the 9 to 10 years’ category.
Tumwesigye scored a total of 134 strokes in three rounds (51, 42 and 41).
In this group, Shreya Naidoo (131) took gold and Zule Richter (133) played for silver.
Danelle Kawalya earned bronze in the girls 13 to 14 years’ age pool.
Kawalya finished with a total of 272 strokes in three rounds (93, 90 and 89) in a group won by South African Amy Stanton (224).
Mine Waterrmeyer (260) earned silver.
Meanwhile, Timothy Samuel Tayebwa Rubandam (137 strokes) finished 8th in the boys’ 7 years’ age pool.
In the boys’ 8 year’s cluster, Austin Abraham Abaho was 14th overall with 146 strokes.
Dante Kawalya scored 284 strokes to finish in the 7th position.
