Arguably, the tightest of title races in the Uganda Premier League history will come to an end this Saturday, May 18.
SC Villa’s win over URA on Tuesday coupled with defeat for Kitara, a draw for BUL means the Jogoos are on track to claim a record 17th extending title aware that a win on Saturday will secure the elusive trophy after twenty years.

Dusan Stojanovic’s side meet tough NEC at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo whilst their title rivals BUL, Vipers and Kitara face Busoga United, Mbarara City and Gaddafi respectively.
The trio of BUL, Vipers and Kitara will be praying and hoping they win their respective home matches and capitalise on Villa’s slip up although that won’t be enough for some as permutations state.
Here is all you need to know relating to the title race.
What do SC Villa need to win the title?

Table leaders SC Villa simply need to beat NEC to claim the 17th title – their first in 20 years.
At worst, the Jogoos will win the title even if they don’t win their match as longs as BUL, Vipers and Kitara also dont win.
What do BUL need to win the title?

Abbey Kikomeko’s men will need victory over Busoga United and hope SC Villa drops points at Lugogo. For them, a win is enough regardless of whether Kitara or Vipers on the day as long Villa falter.
What do Vipers need to win the title?

The reigning champions, aiming to become only the second side to win three consecutive titles after SC Villa must beat Mbarara City and hope both SC Villa and BUL don’t win their respective matches.
What do Kitara need to win the title?

For Kitara to lift the league title, they will hope all teams above them falter by losing their last matches.
Could the title race be decided by the new Head-to-Head ranking?
Yes. This year’s race could be decided on head-to-head rankings if SC Villa lose to NEC, then both Vipers and BUL draw against Mbarara City and Busoga United respectively and then Kitara beat Gaddafi.
All four teams will be on 54 points at the final whistle. Here is the official UPL table
Who has a better head-to-head ranking?
BUL leads in this aspect after wins over champions Vipers home and away, beat Kitara home and drew goalless away and despite losing 1-0 to SC Villa at home, they did win 2-1 win away to the Jogoos which gives them a better head-to-head based on away goals rule which still applies in Uganda.
