RezLife Saints are back in the National Basketball League after just a season in Division I.
The Saints achieved the feat after completing the sweep of UPDF Tomahawks 3-0 in the Playoff semifinals on Friday night.
Steered by coach-player Mike Otieno, the Saints limited the Tomahawks to 7 points in the final quarter en route to a 65-52 win at YMCA, Wandegeya.
After a cagey start to the game, Rezlife took the initiative and quickly went ahead (13-4) before closing out the quarter leading 18-11.
Three minutes into the second period, Rezlife took their lead to double figures thanks largely to forward Richard Anyunva who scored 8 of his team-high 18 points in the frame.
Down by 13 points early in the third period, Henry Okoth led UPDF’s charge back into the game scoring 12 consecutive points for the Tomahawks cutting the lead to just 4 points with under four minutes to play but it was a lone fight for the shooting guard who netted a game-high 19 points.
Point guard Gideon Kasasa (13 points), power forward Leonard Gilabi (14 points, 7 rebounds) and Anyunva (10 rebounds) took charge thereafter to seal victory for the Saints.
