Mbarara City, Police and CATDA join round of 32 | 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup

51st Stanbic Uganda Cup (Round of 64):

  • Junior Eagles 0 (3) – 0 (5) Mbarara City
  • Karadali 0-1 Police
  • Mawokota United 0-3 CATDA

The 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup continued with three matches at the round of 64 on Saturday, 18th January 2025 in various venues.

Mbarara City, Police and CATDA qualified to the round of 32.

In Soroti city, Mbarara City needed a tense post match penalty victory over regional side Junior Eagles winning 5-3 after normal time had ended goal-less.

Police overcame Karadali 1-0 with Daniel Jakony scoring the match winner in the 70th minute.

Kampala regional side CATDA defeated Mawokota United 3-0 in Mpigi.

Baker Buyala scored a brace and Michael Abura got the other.

The three successful clubs join the other earlier qualified teams at the round of 32 as Lugazi Football Club, Wakiso Giants, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF), Maroons, Soltilo Bright Stars, Gaddafi, Current Stanbic Uganda Cup holders Kitara, last year’s losing finalists NEC, Express, BUL, Vipers and Pakwach Young Stars.

Onduparaka failed to travel to Bushenyi for their contest against Bushenyi Veterans whilst Blacks Power reported to Soroti for their match with Soroti Thunders who turned up at another venue.

As it stands, Bushenyi Veterans and Blacks Power could also book their berths to the round of 32 via boardroom decisions.

The round of 64 continues on Sunday, 19th January 2024 as Buganda regional entity Simba entertains UPL side Mbale Heroes at Namulonge playground in Gayaza.

This will be the first game for Baker Mbowa at Mbale Heroes Football Club. Alex Gitta is head coach at Simba, under the management of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup qualifies to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.

Sunday, 12th January 2025 Results

  • Young Simba 0-4 Kitara

  • Garuga Stars 0-1 BUL

Tuesday, 14th January 2025 Results:

  • Iganga Young 0 (4) – 0 (5) Soltilo Brigh Stars
  • Pajule Lions 1-2 Gaddafi

Wednesday, 15th January 2025 Results:

  • Mayuge United 0-2 Lugazi
  • Mbarara Football Club 0-1 Wakiso Giants
  • Kalongo United 1 (1) -1 (2) URA
