
Newly appointed head coach for Uganda’s national team of American Football Dylan Shelley conducted a successful Combine at the Legends Rugby grounds in Kampala.
At least 20 players were part of the two-hour interactive session that entailed tackling, positioning, ball catch, passing and other technical components of the game.
“The session was very interesting. The players are keen and eager to learn. It is process by process as we assemble a formidable team that will be able to compete against Kenya” Shelley stated.




During the session, the coach kept demonstrating the drills as he took special notes.
Shelley, a US national was officially announced head coach on Wednesday, 24th July 2024 at Excelsis Garden Hotel in Kisaasi, Kampala.
Steven George Okeng, the president of the American Football Federation of Uganda was part of Combine, chipping in here and other.
“The Combine was a success. We are working several elements of our game before we take on Kenya. This time round, we need to get our act together and triumph” Okeng revealed.



In the long term, Uganda is preparing a strong team as the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States of America (USA) come knocking.
Shelley has played American Football throughout his life span. Upon retirement, he handled St Vincent High School and the Chico State teams.
For the Uganda National team (The Generals), he will serve alongside two locally based assistant Joshua Wenowe and Jimmy James Lihuma.




He is expected to hold special training drills with different teams and players as well as school students.
This September 2024, Uganda will once against play Kenya in the Africa Zone series duel.
