Despite a 2-0 win over Kenya Police FC in an international friendly on the club’s day, Vipers coach Nikola Kavazovic admits there is still a lot of work to do.
Kenneth Kimera and Gusto Mulongo scored in each half to hand the Venoms a win but there are moments the opponents did better only to be let down by the finishing.

“They really showed their place is in the Caf Confederation Cup and were tough opponents,” Kavazovic told Uganda Fan TV.
“I am realistic, we must be honest to ourselves that they should be 3-up goal margin.
Our conversion was 100-percent as we created one chance and scored. We allowed them five offensive transitions and they created four 100-percent goal chances but thank God they didn’t score.

At the start of the second half, the Serb made defensive changes taking off midfielders Allan Okello and Karim Watambala for defensive minded Paul Mbowa and Derrick Ndahiro.
Though fans were left amused by the defensive substitutions, Kavazovic was impressed with how they controlled the game.
“In the second half, we fully controlled the game especially as the substitutes did the dirty work we didn’t do in the first half and we are happy with that.”

Vipers started like a house on fire pressing high and forcing the opponents into errors but that only lasted less than 15 minutes.
“We want to do that (pressing) for 60-75 minutes,” he explained. “But because of the celebrations, they spent over two hours in the bus and they came to and said boss, we are tired so that could be the reason they burnt out early.”
Kavazovic’s first real test comes on Friday when they take on NEC in the Fufa Super 8 at Kitende.
