The quarterfinal stage of the 2024 Stanbic match play golf challenge was held on Saturday, 6th July at the lakeside par-71 Entebbe Club.
The main group featured in the quarterfinals with eight pairs in contention for the semi-final slots.
Only one all-female pairing of Lillian Koowe and Joyce Kisembo produced to the last four stage.

Koowe and Kisembo defeated the high-flying pair of Tony Ojok and Picole Lukyamuzi 3/2.
“We were determined and played every hole cautiously. There is a lot at stake and with good preparations, we shall go all the way,” Koowe, a member of Fort Portal-based Tooro club stated.

Other Results:
In other matches played, the duo of Emmanuel Lwanga and Vincent Asiimwe won 4/3 over William Esuma and Anne Abeja.
Tony Kisadha and Richard Mwami combined to win on the 18th hole (1 up) over the pairing of Herbert Kamuntu and Stephen Ojambo.
The other all-female pairing of Peace Kabasweka and Harriet Kitaka lost on the 18th hole to the aggressive Walter Tukahiirwa and Lambert Tumwesigye.
“The team chemistry pushed us a great deal and we managed to win our game,” Tukahiirwa revealed.
Semifinal Match up:
Match one will witness Kisaha and Mwami face Lwanga and Asiimwe. The second match is between Tukahiirwa and Tumwesigye up against Koowe and Kisembo.

Meanwhile, the rest of the golfers not in the main draw featured under the subsidiary cluster.
Bruce Aijuka won the men’s Group A pool with 38 points, on countback over Entebbe club captain Serwano Walusimbi.
Milton Edimu scored 44 points to win Group B men with Philemon Akatuhuriira coming second on 40 points.
For Group C men, Ivan Dushime had 45 points to come top ahead of Horace Rwakabureete on 39 points.
Ladies:
Peris Venessa scored 37 points, to win on countback over Martha Babirye in Group A ladies.
For Group B, Hellen Peace toppled the rest to win 39 points ahead of Charity Tushabomwe Charity with 37 points (countback).




Side-bets:
The longest drive contest for men was claimed by Paul Kalemba whilst Martha Babirye shot longest for the ladies.
Jerry Owachi won the nearest to the pin (men) and Ruth Mugisha took the ladies’ gong.
