City Oilers defeated the KCCA Panthers 80-68 in a National Basketball League game at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
This win marked the Oilers’ 13th victory of the season, while the Panthers suffered their ninth loss in 19 games.
Despite missing three senior players who recently left the team, the Oilers displayed a strong performance to secure the win.
Caesar Kizito’s three-pointer sealed the first quarter as the Oilers, gained the 10-point lead (25-15).
Both teams increased their offensive tempo in the second quarter, but the Oilers extended their lead to 11 points (47-36) by halftime.
The Panthers fought back, but the Oilers maintained control, widening the gap to 16 points (62-46) by the end of the third quarter.
Raymond Muhumuza’s charges went for a five-out but failed to make a baseline cut thus making it easy for City Oilers to guard their hoop.
In the final period, Wilson Otyeno hit a long jump shot for the Panthers, but Titus Lawal responded with one of his own.
Rogers John Baptist Dauna’s jump shot with 6:47 remaining extended the Oilers’ lead to 17 points.
Despite a late three-pointer from Caesar Kizito, the Oilers secured a comfortable 12-point victory.
Titus Lawal led the Oilers in scoring with 17 points, while Ben Komakech (14 points) and Rogers JB Dauna (11 points) also contributed in double digits.
For the Panthers, Caeser Kizito (16 points) and Emmanuel Ateng (11 points) were the leading scorers.
