
In a bid to boost the knowledge of Uganda Taekwondo practitioners, the Uganda Taekwondo Federation, in conjunction with a number of partners organized a workshop for Taekwondo system improvement.
This workshop, intended for judges, coaches and trainers was held at the Care Skilling Center Africa (CSCA) in Kisugu, a suburb of Kampala city.
Over 40 participants from the different parts of the country took part in this theory and practical training.

According to the main facilitator, Master Kim Gwangjoo, this workshop was beneficial to the stake-holders for it entailed the status and direction of Taekwondo, promotion regulation, system management, current trends of learning Taekwondo, judge training and promotion of poomase.
“Learners were able to get clear information on promotion from one belt to another and relation stuff about Taekwondo management system as well as promotion of poomase” Master Kim remarked.

The main partners were the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO) and the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF).
The workshop was intended to help the understanding of Taekwondo belt promotion system, track athlete improvement, strengthen refereeing capacity of local judges, shared the latest trend of Taekwondo training methods in Korea, explore ways to increase chances of winning medals in international matches.

Yii Seunghee, the second secretary at the Embassy of Korea in Uganda was impressed by the response of the participants and promised more support towards the promotion of Taekwondo in Uganda.
“The attendance and response from the participants was overwhelming. We are focused towards growing the game of Taekwondo in Uganda to greater heights” Yii stated.
National Council of Sports’ representative Ivan Nuwagaba, experienced sports administrator Joseph Collins Ssemanda, Kato and Uganda Taekwondo Federation General Judith Awujo also had colourful presentations.




13-year-old Innocent Aliker who is affiliated to Gulu University Taekwondo club was the youngest participant.
