Yasin Nasser will switch the focus from the Kenyan rivals and instead pursue securing points for the Africa rally championship in the weekend’s pearl of Africa rally happening in Western Uganda.

The Pearl rally is the second round of the Africa rally championship and six crews will be vying for the ARC points.

Yasin and co-driver Ali Katumba are the only local crew in the top ARC category having to compete with Kenyan rivals Karan Patel, Samman Vohra and Nikhil Sachania.

“Our strategy has never changed for any rally. We shall be in our own race, we push were we can putting in mind the need of points,” he told Kawowo Sports.

“Having the Kenyan brothers this weekend gives us the pleasure to compete. It gives the competition meaning for everyone. So, we don’t see any burden as the best man will take it,” he added.

The Moil rally team lies fourth on the ARC standings with 35 points.

This is the third attempt at the ARC title for the crew; only coming close in 2023 when they finished the season second overall.

“Coming to this event with some points gives us some advantage and we shall try to capitalise on it going forward,” said Yasin.

Yasin and Katumba will run Pearl rally with all the support of local fans expected to fill the viewing points of the pearl stages.

Rally starts on Friday with three stages including a super special stage at the Rukaari Resort.

It will cover a total competitive distance of 188.33kilometres.
