The StarTimes Uganda Premier League matchday twenty-seven concluded with the Venoms edging closer to the title but what are the other talking points?
BUL dents NEC title chances, stretches unbeaten streak

BUL remains the only unbeaten side in the second round of the season with a 1-1 draw at NEC that literally ends the Bugolobi-based side’s title chances.
Overall, BUL are now unbeaten in 16 Premier League matches [W10, D6] and this record faces a stern test against Vipers in the next round.
6-star Vipers edge closer to 7th title

Vipers are three points away from a 7th league title following their six-star performance in the win over Mbale Heroes.
The victory, coupled with NEC’s 1-1 draw at Lugogo against BUL, means the Venoms will seal the championship on Saturday if they win at Njeru.
A seventh title will see them tie with sleeping giants’ Express FC – the oldest club in the league and only Villa (17 titles) and KCCA (13 titles) will be ahead.
Bright Stars joins relegated Heroes, Wakiso Giants on the brink

After a decade and two years in the Premier League, Soltilo Bright Stars were relegated following a 1-0 defeat at UPDF.
Ironically, Paul Kiwanuka, who saved the Stars from going down last season, masterminded the defeat as he is now in charge of UPDF.
They will soon be joined by Wakiso Giants who lost to Mbarara City in a match they had to win to enhance their survival chances.

The Purple Sharks, after five years, will go down on the next matchday if they do not win or if Mbarara City secure results against Lugazi at home on Saturday.
Blunt Kitara goal drought continues
The goal drought at Kitara hit another milestone after they failed to score in the 1-0 loss to Express FC.

Despite the return of George Senkaaba and Patrick Kaddu, as well as attacking midfielder Titus Ssematimba, Kitara failed to hit the back of the net.
It is four league games in a row without a goal and winless in five matches overall as they look to beat Vipers in the second leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Villa ‘can’t’ beat KCCA

SC Villa and KCCA drew in a 2-2 thrilling encounter at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku on Wednesday.
The result means KCCA is unbeaten against the Jogoos since December 2020 when they lost 2-1 at Bombo with Nicholas Kabonge and Ronald Ssekiganda getting Villa goals.
In the past 25 Premier League meetings, Villa has just two wins since 2012 [L14, D9].
