UCU Lady Canons secured a hard-fought 54-46 victory over the Magic Stormers in a Uganda National Basketball League clash held at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
The Magic Stormers started strongly, edging the first quarter with an 11-7 lead.
However, the Lady Canons regrouped in the second period, overturning the deficit to take a six-point advantage (27-21) into halftime.
After the break, the Magic Stormers came out with renewed energy and outplayed their opponents for most of the third quarter.
Millicent Otieno’s long-range three-pointer helped the Lady Canons maintain a narrow two-point lead heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, both teams raised the intensity, but the Lady Canons held firm and extended their lead to seal an eight-point victory.
Matrina Anyango led the scoring for the Lady Canons with 14 points, while Hajara Najjuko added 10.
Angela Auma was the standout performer for the Magic Stormers, finishing with a game-high 15 points.
