The Lady Rugby Cranes 15s start their Rugby Africa Women’s Division I campaign against familiar foes, Tunisia.
The 15s ladies in Black-Yellow-Red were reinforced with the 7s and Under 20 players, and in today’s game, those valuable additions are expected to make their mark.
Rugby 7s stars, Peace Lekuru and Grace Nabbaggala, start as inside and outside center respectively and make up a star-studded backline that also has the ingenious Sarah Nakafeero at scrumhalf. Youngster Bushira Namutebi shall marshal Uganda’s attacks from the flyhalf position.
The forwards shall do with the experience of the team captain Angella Nanyonjo while the indomitable Patricia Anek, a stalwart of the Uganda front row, also starts at loosehead prop. Black Pearls gems; Leona Acen, Suzan Adong and Lydia Namabiro combine in the pack, while Buddu Cuppas youngster, Proscovia Mukyala wears the senior national team colours for the first time today.
The Lady Cranes Rugby 15s is beaming with confidence and youth as well, with Phiona Nantongo, Phoebe Nakalembe and Peace Nemira bringing the exuberance to Mufuwa, Nambozo and Akello’s silky party in the later stages of the game.
