Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba have been yet again been haunted by the WRC Safari Rally jinx.
Nasser, in a Ford Fiesta rally2, kept it safe throughout leg one, finishing fifth in the Africa Rally Championship category and 21st overall.
However, his contention came to a sudden halt when he broke the front left arm; 8km from the finish of Camp Muran stage on Friday morning.

“It is so unfortunate. We don’t know how this happened. We tried to be cautious as much as possible but then this happened,” said co-driver Ali Katumba.
“We have not lost hope yet. We are taking the car to service and prepare for tomorrow. We still need to finish this rally,” he added.
The Camp Muran stage was anticipated to be the hardest in the whole rally. It indeed took a bite out of the crews.

WRC crews of Sami Pajari, Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta all had incidents in the same stage.
The stage will be repeated on Friday afternoon.
Hyundai’s Ott Tanak leads the Safari Rally after stage six with 24.4 seconds advantage Elfyn Evans.
