Shaban, Omedi command starting berths for Uganda Cranes against Mozambique | 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Uganda Cranes head coach Joseph Paul Put and the rest of the backroom staff have concurred upon the starting team to face Mozambique in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers (Group G).

Isima Watenga starts in the goal posts. Elvis Bwomono and Abdu Aziizi Kayondo will play the right and left back roles respectively.

Bevis Mugabi and Elio Capradossi are the two center halves.

It is a compacted midfield that has Kenneth Ssemakula, captain Khalid Aucho in the blocking roles with Vipers’ play-maker Allan Okello at the apex.

Jude Ssemugabi, Denis Omedi and Libya based striker Muhammad Shaban are the three forwards on the team.

The match will kick off at 4 PM (East African Time) at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt, a neutral ground for both Mozambique and Uganda after CAF ruled out the Maputo stadium for failure to meet international standards.

The substitute players for Uganda Cranes are Joel Mutakubwa and Nafian Alionzi (goalkeepers), Timothy Denis Awany, Gavin Kizito Mugweri, Tony Sibbick, Ronald Ssekiganda, Enock Ssebagala, Hakim Kiwanuka, Steven Desse Mukwala, Travis Mutyaba, Calvin Kabuye and Isaac Muleme.

Mozambique, led by Francisco Queriol Conde Jnior has started Ernani in goal.

The defense has Langa, Mandava, Chamboco and Nanani.

In central midfield is Amade, Guima, Gildo, Santos and Catamo.

Ratifo leads the line in the quest for goals.
