Roger Mukasa (90) lit up Matchday 5 of Batball Maxx with a scintillating knock that anchored his team to their first win of the tournament.
Team Ruby has been winless and stuck at the bottom of the table but they salvaged some pride for themselves with the highest run chase of the tournament so far.
Team Sapphire scored their runs quickly with Calvin Watuwa (52 not out) notching up a quick-fire half-century off just 26 balls. He got support from Hamu Kayondo (42) and Captain Cyrus Kakuru (32) as the side rallied to pile up the highest score of the tournament 204/4.
In the run chase, Roger Mukasa plundered seven maximums and seven boundaries as he put on a batting masterclass that anchored the chase.
Sapphire stalled the chase with a couple of wickets but Harsh Panchal (44 not out) put the finishing touches to clinch the win with 8 balls to spare. The highest run chase of the tournament so far and a win that will lift the spirits of Team Ruby.
In the morning, Team Emerald remained unbeaten with a seven-wicket win against second-placed Team Gold. Oscar Manishimwe (62 not out) was in blistering form with bat for Gold and he got support from former Cricket Cranes Captain Brian Masaba (38) in support.
However, Captain Simon Ssesazi (56) and Ronald Lutaaya (55 not out) benefited from some sloppy fielding from Team Gold to ensure that their Team Emerald remains unbeaten and top of the table.
The results today don’t change the table standings with Emerald remaining top of the table while Ruby only gets off the mark but remains rooted to the bottom.
