Police FC sailed through to the quarterfinals of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup after eliminating Maroons FC.
In the Armed Forces derby played on Monday at Luzira Prisons Ground, the Cops secured a 1-0 win to progress.
Dennis Kalanzi scored the lone goal of the game, coming as early as the ninth minute.
A quick interplay between Kalanzi and Emmanuel Mugume saw the latter heading home beyond goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.
The Cops thereafter proved resilient and thwarted any attempts that Maroons made thus seeing out the game.
Police FC who eliminated Soltilo Bright Stars FC at the round of 32 became the first team to reach the last eight.
The Cops are joined by Kitara FC who came from behind to eliminate Gaddafi FC 2-1 in Entebbe.
