Women’s Day Cup Final: Match Summary
- Namibia 71 all out
- Uganda 72/2
- Uganda won by 8 wickets

Uganda’s Victoria Pearls made light work of the Capricorn Eagles of Namibia in the final of the Women’s Day Cup.
Namibia won the toss and elected to bat first but some disciplined bowling from Uganda left them railing at 21/6. A sister act from Mekelaye Mwatile and Vilka Mwatile repaired the run scoring for Namibia but they could only manage to score 71 in their 20 overs.
Sarah Walaza who returned to the playing XI in place of Proscovia Alako made a good impression with the ball.
In the run chase, Janet Mbabazi was cleaned up off the first ball of the second Innings but Esther Ilukor and Immaculate Nakisuyi were resolute in defence and attack and made sure of no more damage.
Nakisuyi (30) dug deep and ensured that Uganda got the result and got over the line with an emphatic 8-wicket win.

Uganda defeated Namibia for the third time in the series to be crowned champions of the first edition of the Women’s Day Cup.
Mbabazi won the best bowler award, Natasha Miles best batter and Nakisuyi won the MVP award.

A series played in great spirits by all the four teams at the Lakeside Oval.
Hong Kong China finished 3rd after their 3rd/4th game was washed out by the early morning drizzle.
