For the second successive season, the Uganda Premier League title race will be decided on the final day.

Four teams, SC Villa (54), BUL (53), Vipers (53) and Kitara (51) are all in the race with the Jogoos away to NEC while the rest are at home to Busoga, Mbarara City and Gaddafi respectively.

In a statement signed by Bernard Bainamani, the CEO of the league, they showed readiness.

“As you may already be aware, as per the current SUPL table standing, any of the top four clubs (SC Villa, BUL FC, Vipers SC and Kitara FC) still stands a chance of emerging the SUPL 2023/2024 season champion come Saturday 18th May 2024…,” read a statement in parts.

“Accordingly, the following arrangements have been made for purposes of smooth management of the champion crowning ceremony.

“1. Being that SC Villa currently leads the table standing, and will be playing away to NEC FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, the venue has been prioritized as the GRAND VENUE where the FUFA President and other distinguished guests will be.

“2. Should SC Villa, BUL FC or Vipers SC emerge a champion on Saturday 18th May 2024, the crowning ceremony shall be done on the same day.

“However, should Kitara FC emerge the champion, the crowning ceremony shall be done on Sunday 19th May 2024 at Masindi Stadium starting at 12:00pm.”

Bainamani also confirmed all matches involving title contention will be live on TV as earlier announced.

Last season, the FA had to hire a helicopter to fly the trophy to Kitende after both Villa and KCCA were beaten to the title by Vipers SC.
