The 2025 National Rally Championship gets off to a properly geared start this Friday in Mbarara with thirty-seven crews in the fray.

The Lumala @60 Mama @90 Birthday rally is already billed to be an exciting affair.

While the majority of crews will be picking up from where they left off last season; fighting for NRC and Two-wheel drive titles, nine drivers will be initiating their journey in top rally in the Clubman Rally Championship category.

The Clubman Rally Championship is a category for new entrants into the rally discipline. The crews are required to cover 70 per cent of the season before they can be promoted to the top-tier category.

20-year-old Kevin Bebeto, Nasib Ssesanga, Vincent Muwanguzi, Ahmed Kateete, Ukasha Mugoya, Ssentogo Kigundu, Topher Katera, Walter Kabande and the only female driver Doreen Asiimwe.

The above-mentioned crews have each had an experience of the cockpit having competed in the Autocross and sprints before.

Some, like Katera and Ssesanga, have competed in the CRC before but they did not make up the percentage to get promoted to NRC.

Bebeto, the youngest of them and a nephew to rally driver Kuku Ranjit is expected to run the show in the category, having registered good performance in the autocross events he has covered.

The crews will cover a short itinerary of 70 per cent of every event.

Mbarara rally gets off with one stage on Friday morning before crews head for a double circuit at Mwesigwa resort in the afternoon.
