The XXXIII Olympiad men’s marathon will be held on Saturday, 10th August 2024 in Paris City, France.
A grueling 42 kilometers await the runners including Uganda’s trio of Victor Kiplangat, Stephen Kissa and Andrew Rotich Kwemboi.

This marathon will commence at Hotel De Ville with several water points lined up around the route for the runners to quench their thirst.
The 10KM mark is at Maison De La Radio et de la Musique and the 15KM mark will be at Grande Rue.
The halfway mark for the marathon will be at Chateau De Versailles where the runners will turn off back to the finishing.
Au De Paris is the 25KM mark, Route De Pave Des Cardes (30KM) and Quai Du President Roosevelt (35KM).
The runners will continue along the Seine (Au De la Bourdonnais) at the 40km before the final 2 KM to finish at the Esplanade Des Invalides.

About Uganda’s runners in the marathon:
Victor Kiplangat, 22, is best known for his gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as well as another gold in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Stephen Kissa is a vastly experienced 28-year-old long-distance runner whilst Andrew Rotich Kwemboi is a 23-year-old.



The women marathoners are Stella Chesang, Rebecca Cheptegei and Mercyline Chelangat.
Chesang, 28, won a gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games (10,000m). Rebecca Cheptegei won the Padova Marathon and was second in the 10,000m at the Ugandan Championships, Mandela National Stadium, Kampala.
Mercyline Chelangat, 26, will be competing at the second Olympics.


Team Uganda had a delegation of 25 members, 21 of whom are from athletics.
The others were from swimming (2), rowing (1) and cycling (1).
The closing ceremony will be held at Stade de France on Sunday, 11th August 2024.
