
There was a major positive as Ugandan swimmer Anna Gloria Muzito took to the waters at the Paris La Defense Arena during the 100m freestyle race in the on-going Paris 2024 Olympics.
Muzito posted 55:95 in a very fast race won by Hong Kong swimmer Siobhan Bernadette Haughey with 53:02 during heat 4.
The US based swimmer improved her personal best time from 56:01.
Her performance on the day was not good enough to see her progress to the semi-finals; but, she remains optimistic of further improvements in the upcoming races.
In heat 3, Mollie O’Callaghan won with a timing of 53:27 whilst Swedish national Sarah Sjostrom took heat 2 with 52:99, the fastest time among all the heats.
Zimbabwe Paige Van der Westhuizen was outstanding in heat 1 with a time of 58:19.
Uganda’s other swimmer Jesse Ssengonzi is also yet to compete.
Besides swimming, Uganda is also represented in Rowing, Cycling and athletics at the on-going Olympics.

By Tuesday evening, Japan had secured 7 gold medals, 2 silver and 4 bronze.
China follows with 6 gold medals, 6 silver and 2 bronze.
Hosts France is number three with 5 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze.
