Second Ubuntu sports festival a success at Nkumba University

The second Ubuntu sports festival was successfully held at Nkumba University sports grounds in Katabi town council, Wakiso district.

This festival is organized by Sports Uganda Limited UK, in conjunction with a number of partners.

A number of sporting activities that entailed both the out-door and indoor sports disciplines were played.

The out-door sports disciplines included football, rugby (touch and tag), basketball, netball, volleyball, omweso, Morabaraba and Quadditch (Quadball).

The board games on the menu were chess and Morabaraba. There was also a robotics session and science exhibition center.

The festival also encompassed an environmental drive in a bid to sustain a green and friendly environment.

Before the sports festival, there was a general cleaning drive around Abaita Ababiri and Nkumba towns where the different participants cleaned up the road-side town.

“The second Ubuntu sports festival at Nkumba University progressed well. First, we had a general cleaning exercise around Abaita Ababiri and Nkumba areas. It was fun throughout the festival with various games on demonstration. I would like to thank all the partners, coaches and management of Nkumba University for the support therein” Andrew Byekwaso, Chief Executive Officer of Sports Uganda Limited and Sembeza Africa revealed.

An interesting new game, Quidditch was also on the show as interested many people; young and old.

There were demonstrations in football, touch and tag rugby as well as basketball.

Nkumba University volleyball girls and boy’s teams held exhibition games to the people.

There was also an interesting show on the netball court.

Entebbe Cultural troop entertained the guests with outstanding performances (drumming and dances) during the opening day.

The children’s docket was also well catered for with robotics and Mr Zebra who played with the little souls in various games.

The Ubuntu Sports Festival for season two at Nkumba University was very successful. As Score Beyond from Adjumani district, we are delighted to have been part and parcel like it was during the first festival. There are lots of positives from the festival that will help the eventual development of youngsters in the various games.
