Women’s T20 League defending champions Soroti City suffered their first defeat of the season going down by two wickets against Tornado Bee at the lakeside oval in Entebbe.
Tornado Bee who were playing their first game of the season skittled out the favourites for only 32 with Teddy Oyella (4/3) outstanding with the ball and she had support from Victoria Pearls player Shakira Shadick (3/6).
Tornado Bee struggled in the run chase but they were eventually able to take the result by two wickets.
In the afternoon, Soroti City were vengeful taking the victory by 9 wickets in another low-scoring game in Entebbe. The defending champions dropped points for the second weekend and will be hoping that none of the chasing pack closes the gap on them.
At Lugogo Oval, Olila CC picked up maximum points against Pioneer. The side from Soroti had Victoria Pearls players Phiona Khulume, Sarah Akiteng, Malissa Ariokot, Lorna Anyait and Jimia Muhammad in their ranks.
The runners-up from last year were dominant in play. Lorna Anyait (49) missed a half-century in the morning game but had done enough to help her side win comfortably. A tough outing for the young girls of Pioneer but they were up against a very experienced opponent.
In Jinja, the clash of the weekend ended with both sides picking up a win. ACC got the result in the morning with Sarah Walaza (50) delivering a half century for ACC while Immaculate Nakisuyi (44) got the runs for the home side but was not enough to take down the visitors. In the afternoon JACC fought back and won a hard-fought game by seven runs.
