Uganda’s representatives in the 2024/25 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, Kitara FC has known their opponents following the draws conducted on Thursday in Cairo, Egypt.
The reigning Uganda Cup Winners have been pitted against a Libyan club (yet to be known) at the first preliminary stage. According to the draw, the Libyan outfit was labelled as Libya 2.
In the explanation made during the draws, Libya will field two teams but these will be confirmed at the end of this month.
Libya 1 will be the top ranked team engaged in Confederation Cup and they will face Uwamiyaji FC from Zanzibar at the first preliminary round. The Winner on aggregate will then face Simba SC at the next round.
For Kitara FC, they will face Libya 2 who will be the second ranked Libyan Team engaged in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Winner on aggregate between Kitara FC and Libya 2 will play against Al Masry FC from Egypt at the second preliminary round.
It should be noted that the 12 highest-ranked clubs in the official clubs ranking are exempted from the 1st preliminary round.
The remaining 40 clubs play the 1st preliminary round and consist of ranked clubs (3) and non-ranked clubs (37) according to the official clubs ranking.
The first preliminary round fixtures will be played between 16th -18th August 2024 (first leg) and 23rd -25th August 2024 (return leg).
Zamalek SC from Egypt are the current holders of the CAF Confederation Cup.
