KIU Rangers secured a well-deserved 80-47 victory against Miracle Ravens in the Castle Lite National Basketball League on Wednesday night at Lugogo Arena.

The Rangers secured a strong lead in the first round of the playoffs against the Miracle Ravens in the best-of-three series.

KIU had a strong start to the game, opening a deserved 18-point (27-9) lead against Miracle Ravens in the quarterfinal encounter.

Despite the Ravens intensifying their efforts, they were still behind by 24 points (46-22) at the end of the second quarter.

The one-sided dominancy continued as the KIU Rangers opened a 33-point (69-36) lead at the end of the third quarter.

Suzan Amito’s floating jump shot was the last piece of action in the game as Miracle Ravens fell by 33 points.

Sharon Kirabo delivered a standout performance, scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for a double-double. Rose Amaniyo (15) and Ines Kanyamuneza (14) also scored double figures for the Kasanga-based side.

Only Lilian Cherotich (10) and Brenda Alyano (10) scored double digits for Miracle Ravens.

The two sides will meet in Games Two on Saturday, July 13 at YMCA Court, Wandegeya.
