A coincidental draw saw Uganda face Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso again in Pool A of the second round of the 2024 Rugby Africa Men’s 7s in Mauritius.

The Rugby Cranes continued to assert their dominance over their opponents in the pool phase as they had done during the first round last weekend.

  • Game 1: Uganda 36-00 Tunisia
  • Game 2: Uganda 29-14 Cote d’Ivoire
  • Game 3: Uganda 14-10 Burkina Faso

Uganda sailed over Tunisia without conceding a single point. Speedster Denis Etwau scored two braces in the match.

But it was not as smooth against Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso. Both West African sides traded blows with the Rugby Cranes 7s and put points on the board. Burkina Faso went neck and neck with Uganda, keeping them scoreless in the entire second half.

Nonetheless, Uganda came out on top of the pool without dropping any points. They will face Zambia (the second-best third-ranked team) in the Cup Quarterfinals on Day Two.

With a ticket to the 2025 World Rugby 7s Challenger Series still in sight, the pressure on Team Uganda has “creased”
