Blick advised parents to interest their children into sport not as a pastime but rather for big time career and profession.

“I am happy to be here at Grand Maria School Nabbingo to motivate the young pupils as we continue to celebrate the International Olympics day. Sport is no longer merely leisure. It is a big-time business where careers are built. Therefore, parents, you should encourage and support your children to take on different sports” Blick called.

It was a special fun-filled occasion that had pomp and excitement as the pupils contested in several disciplines that purposely aim at interesting them in big time sport.

Some of these disciplines included running, jumping, hopping, bicycle racing, water sports, bike riding, dancing and a couple of ball sports.

Grand Maria School director Muwanga reminded the parents about the value of holistic education.

“Sports and games are beneficial to these young ones for they help in their wholesome growth and development” Muwanga who won two gold medals at the 2006 Africa University Games hinted.

Pupils were enthused to engage in these different disciplines as they networked and had fun all day long.

“I enjoyed playing in most games and watching many of my school mates compete in the different sports” Lisa Abaho Ainembabazi, a P4 pupils revealed.

The outstanding teams and personalities were rewarded with trophies for the exceptional performances.

The school used the same occasion to recognize the endeavors of Brianna Muwanga Malaika who represented Uganda and won the Little Miss Africa and is also Little Miss Uganda.
