Golfers to swing for underprivileged children’s education at UGC as Mwesigye assumes patron role at Wehat Foundation Fund

The Wehat Foundation has shinning catch phrase; “Touching lives; bringing back the smiles”.

This foundation which was founded in 2020 has a soft spot for positive transformation of people’s lives; especially the underprivileged cluster.

Embedded under the core principles of Welfare, Education, Health Care, Advocacy and Talent, the Wehat Foundation continues to establish firm roots.

This Friday (5th July 2024), the Wehat Foundation has organized a fundraising golf tournament at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.

The theme of the tournament is “Empowering Education through the Lens”.

The main purpose for this day-long championship is to raise at least Ug.Shs 150,000,000 to better the education sphere for the less privileged children at Gaangu Model Infants and primary, a community school that has served Gaangu for over 20 years.

“We are targeting at least Ug.Shs 150M from the Golf fundraiser on Friday at the Uganda Golf Club to improve education at Gaagu model infants and primary school. We shall build a public library, toilet, buy scholastic materials and pay fees for twenty pupils for a period of one year” Musa Abdul Rugumayo, the Executive Director of Wehat Foundation stated during the launch at Uganda Golf club terraces.

The green fees are fixed at 1,000,000 under the gold category for a team of four people.

The silver cluster will go for Ug.Shs 500,000 for a team of four while individuals will pay Ug.Shs 60,000.

Derrick Muhumuza, the competitions and PR secretary at Uganda Golf Club expressed delight upon partnering with Wehat Foundation.

“We are happy to partner with Wehat Foundation for the positive transformation of society. Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Dorren Mwesigye is joining Wehat Foundation Fund as patron” Muhumuza remarked.

Collins Kasujja Suubi, a co-founder and director at Wehat Foundation notes that the charity golf open will target members of the golf fraternity and the business community with a photo exhibition.

Seasoned photojournalist Faith Ariho will exhibit different photos that she has taken the years.

These are a curated collection of photographs capturing the natural beauty of Uganda through the eyes of a young Ugandan woman demonstrating the resilience of children facing adversity.

Other different powerful images are taken by Molly Kabamoli mentored by Ariho will also be displayed to evoke emotions and inspire generosity.
