Kampala Rockets wing Luak Ruai registered a triple-double as his side edged JT Jaguars 59-56 in the National Basketball League at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.
Ruai dropped 15 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and made 11 assists to become the first player to achieve the mark in the men’s division.
Ruai was instrumental on the day ensuring that his side secured the victory as they continued to fight for survival in the top tier.
Simon Ola (19) and Pauti Ozias Kikomba (15) scored double digits to ignite Kampala Rockets’ fight against a motivated JT Jaguars side.
For JT Jaguars, Aaron John Eboyu, Ian Lubwama and George Agassi made a significant contribution scoring 16, 15 and 14 points respectively.
The Rockets staged a desirable start to the game as they were in the driving seat (17-9) at the end of the first quarter.
Aaron John Eboyu’s floating jump shot climaxed the second quarter as the JT Jaguars were trailing by six points (28-22).
Coming from the long break, the JT Jaguars made a significant shift in their confidence and how they approached the game. The hard work paid off as they took a 42-40 at the end of the third quarter.
Despite the second-half surge by the JT Jaguars, the Rockets held their nerves in the third quarter and secured a two-point victory.
