Lugazi Football Club was attained promotion to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League effective the 2024-2025 season.
The feat followed a 2-0 home win over visiting Kaaro Karungi football club at the Lugazi stadium in Najjemba, Mabira on Sunday, 26th May 2024.
Usual suspects Samuel Ssemugugu and Ronald Sempala scored the two goals, both arriving in the first half.
Coached Gerald Efeti, Lugazi Football club joins the two other promoted sides Police and Mbale Heroes.
Police overcame Kigezi Home Boyz 2-0 courtesy of second half strikes from Steven Kabuye and Dennis Kalanzi.
Mbale Heroes edged visiting Onduparaka 2-1 at the Mbale city stadium to spark wild celebrations.
Christened as the “Surgeons”, Mbale Heroes return to top flight football after close to two decades.
The final round of the 2023-2024 betPawa FUFA Big league will be held on Sunday, 2nd June 2024.
Either Police or Lugazi will be crowned champion by the end of the final match day.
Current leaders Police visit Kataka at the Mbale City Stadium whilst Lugazi will be away to Jinja North United in Jinja city (Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe).
Relegation:
Ndejje University, Jinja North United , Young Elephants and Kyetume are all relegated to the respective regional leagues.
