2025 USSSA Boys’ football
Final (Wednesday, May 14)
- St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende Vs Buddo SS
- At Ngora High School playground 2 (3 PM)
The Ngora High School playground 2 is not a recommended place for the feint hearted on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
This is the venue for two Wakiso zone and Uganda schools’ football giants; St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende and Buddo Secondary School.
The two giants lock-horns during the grand finale of the 2025 USSSA boys football U-20 championship.
This match has always raised the adrenaline levels for many people; given the egos to settle, tension, pressure, hype, high expectations and demands always accompanied by the fixture.
Kitende has won this trophy 11 times (record equaling with Kibuli SS) and Buddo SS has managed to lift it twice (2009 and 2018).

Prior to the tournament, Buddo and Kitende faced off in the explosive Wakiso zone final held at the Wakisha playground with Kitende winning 2-0.
Perhaps, this is a completely different game with varying mindsets, demands and approach.
Buddo SS has been flawless and clinical throughout the tournament right from group phase to the knock out stage.
So has been St Mary’s Kitende. Therefore, the stakes are really very high.

To qualify for the final, Buddo SS eliminated Bukedea Comprehensive School 5-4 in post-match penalties after normal time of the semi-final clash had ended goal-less.
St Mary’s Kitende benefited from the expulsion of Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) out of the tournament following the abandonment of their semi-final duel, following crowd trouble.
JIPRA was accused of incitement of violence and use of ineligible players Adrina Isabirye and Musa Ntege.
Bar the grey patch in the semi-finals, this championship had progressed smoothly with virtually no petitions as anticipated.

Battle of tactics:
Both teams are fully equipped with the ammunition of skilled technical dockets.
Hassan Zzungu leads the cast at Kitende as former Uganda Cranes international Richard Malinga is at Buddo SS.
Right from the morale boosting (psychological uplift of players), line up selection, game management and reading, whichever team with the spot on tactics shall carry the day.
Key players:
Finals are always won by the better prepared players mentally and physically. Such shall be the one at Ngora High School playground 2. Both schools have great players with immense skills and the right mentality.
Workaholic midfielder Claude Wakenge, Denis Kisiriko (ironically a former player at Buddo SS) and stylish Farouk Tumwesigye shall be key for team Kitende.
Goalkeeper Edirisah Waibi, Denis Kisambira, Owen Mukisa, skipper Dickson Barasa are some of the proven players at Buddo SS that will give Kitende a good run of their own money.

This championship featured over 1600 players from 64 schools from the different corners of the country.
Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) provided two sets of jerseys per school.
Besides the gigantic trophy and bragging rights, at stake is are gold medals for the winners.
Already, the four teams to represent Uganda at the 2025 FEASSA games in Kenya are known; Buddo, Kitende, Bukedea Comprehensive and the reigning East African champions Amus College.
