
2025 USSSA Boys football (Match Day 1):
Group F:
- Lira Town College 0-1 St Kagwa Bushenyi
Match day one for boys football at the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools’ Sports Association (USSSA) games was completed on Tuesday, May 6.
A couple of games were played in different games as action swiftly unfolded over the various grounds in Ngora district.
In group F, St Kagwa Bushenyi overcame a hard fighting Lira Town College 1-0 at the Ngora Girls playground.
Following a goal-less opening first half, the game came to life when Aliton Alinethu struck the solitary game that won the game for Bushenyi district’s record champions.
St Kagwa Bushenyi now takes charge of Group F ahead of the remaining encounters against Panyadoli SS and Kampala champions, Kawempe Muslim.
Other results:
Defending champions St Julian High School swiftly recovered from a goal down to overcome Rwenzori region’s Garama SS 3-1 during a group A contest played on a bumpy BKC Demo primary school playground.
Yubu Thembo scored the opener for the Kasese based school before a gallant comeback by the national reigning champions.
Jaziro Jamani Makayi, Dissan Mwebe and James Ssekate got the goals for St Julian High School.
Nyamitanga Secondary School overcame Jinja Comprehensive School 2-0. Mark Tushabe and Jamaldin Baluku scored in either half of the group G duel.
In group P, Amus College School andMasindi Secondary School shared the spoils during a 1-all stalemate at the St Aloysious CORE PTC playground 2.
Davis Busuulwa gave Amus College School the early lead in the third minute.
Brian Wagabuli then found the equalizer in the second half to frustrate last year’s losing finalists in Masaka.
Amus College would have restored their lead but Bashir Mansoor watched in disbelief when his weak penalty was saved by the goalkeeper.
Masaka’s Notre Dame High School lost 1-2 to Bugisu High School at the St Aloysious CORE PTC playground 2 in group I.
Emmanuel Watiti gave Bugisu High School the first half lead with a well struck free-kick.
Junior Ssemanda equalized with a header after a goal melee as the second stanza restarted.
Ali Karim won the game for Bugisu High School inside the final 10 minutes of the game.
Fort Portal Secondary School recovered from a goal to share the spoils with Masaka Secondary School at Ngora Girls playground in group M.
Mubarak Tumwine gave Masaka SS the lead before Derrick Ssozi replied with a well struck penalty for Fort Portal SS. Both goals arrived in the first half.
Atengesiep Secondary School from Moroto edged Devine College Buyaga 1-0 courtesy of Aloysious Otimat at the St Aloysious CORE PTC playground 1 in group N.
More group stage matches will be played on Wednesday across the various groups ahead of the official opening on Thursday.
The championship will climax by 15th May 2025, hosted by Ngora High School.
