51st Stanbic Uganda Cup (1st Semi-final legs):

  • KCCA 3-0 Kataka
  • Vipers 1-0 Kitara

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club recorded a comprehensive 3-0 victory over second tier Kataka during the first leg of the semi finals in the 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Sunday night.

A well taken brace by Emmanuel Anyama and another strike from substitute Ashraf Mugume spurred KCCA to victory with the return leg coming up in ten day’s time away in Mbale city.

Anyama broke the Kataka resilience in the second minute of added time as the first half climaxed with a clinical finish past goalkeeper Chris Ronald Nsubuga.

He then combined with Arafat Usama who set with a clever back heel for the second goal, four minutes into the second half.

Kataka goalkeeper Chris Ronald Nsubuga tipped over a distant shot from Usama Arafat towards the hour mark.

Moments later, there were two yellow card to Saul Bukoma (Kataka) and Shafik Nana Kwikirizza (KCCA).

Brazilian born player Gabriel Joao Esteves replaced Kwikirizza in the 62nd minute and at the same time, Kataka rested forward Ali Sentamu for Markus Christian Aka.

Mugume had a cross from the right well picked out by goalkeeper Nsubuga in the 65th minute.

With eight minutes left on the clock, Gabriel sets up Ashraf Mugume to slot the ball home from close range.

Mugume, a second half substitute capped the icing on the already baked cake with a simple finish inside the goal area, thanks to a well set up ball from the left by another subsistute Gabriel Joao.

Almost immediately, Usama missed a free header to make it four after a decent cross from the left by Mubezi.

In the 85th minute, Kataka introduced Brian Luwemba for Saul Bukoma before the hosts called for a double change.

Forward Sadat Happy Anaku came on for Arafat Usama and defender Sammy Ssebadukka was a replacement for Gavin Kizito Mugweri.

As the minutes trickled down, Kataka was forced to execute a change when Isaac Owinyi was stretchered out for Richard Lempani.

By this time, Kataka was only deploying the damage control mechanism to avoid an embarrassing scoreline at the Lugogo fortress.
