Vipers Sports Club progressed to the semifinals of the 2024-2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup at the expense of rivals Sports Club Villa.
The Venoms beat the Jogoos 1-0 courtesy of team skipper Milton Karisa at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Easter Monday under floodlights.
Karisa, who was introduced at the start of the second half, headed home with two minutes to play after goalkeeper Jean Braddy Wokorach had fluffed a hard shot by Abdul-Karim Watambala.
Before Karisa’s goal, the game was even and it looked destined for the post-match penalties until the team captain reacted swiftly to nod home the winner.
By then, there was limited time left on the clock for the Jogoos to make any impact.
As the final whistle was blown, the Vipers fans celebrated wildly and the Jogoos players dejected.
Vipers progress to the last four stage and join the holders Kitara alongside KCCA.
The last quarter final comes on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025 between Police and FUFA Big League side Kataka.
