- Kyamatte, Ntungamo 3pm
KCCA make a long trip to Kyamate in Ntungamo where Kaaro Karungi is lurking in the quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Saturday with memories of their trip to the venue still fresh 10 years on.
In 2015, the Kasasiro played in a Uganda Cup final against SC Villa and the game was marred by controversial refereeing decisions that in the end saw it abandoned midway the second half.
SC Villa were in the lead then courtesy of a questionable penalty awarded by referee Robert Donney and then Hakim Ssenkumba was sent off for a nasty challenge.
Sakka Mpiima and Yasin Mugabi, now on the technical staff were part of the team and Abdallah Mubiru, sacked a few days ago was the coach.
With the Cup the only chance for silverware this term, KCCA must win to advance to the semis.
They go into the game in shambolic form having lost three league games on the bounce but coach Jackson Magera is adamant they will get the desired result.
“It is a game we must win to save our season and the players understand that,” he said. “It will be tough but we have the quality to get through it,” he added.
Magera will hope his forwards led by the experienced Derrick Nsibambi are lethal on the day as their main problem has been failure to convert chances this season.
Meanwhile, James Makumbi, Kaaro Karungi coach is aware of the threat his side faces in KCCA but says his boys will be fired up.
“They (KCCA) play good football and that is enticing to my boys because we also play same style,” said Makumbi.
Kaaro Karungi already eliminated a top tier side this campaign when they beat UPDF 3-0 at the same venue.
