- Simba 2-0 Al Masry
After failing on five attempts, Tanzania’s Simba will finally play a continental semi-final after eliminating Egypt’s Al Masry on penalties.
The Msimbazi won the game played at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam 2-0 to tie the game after losing by the same score line in the first leg in Cairo.
Ugandan international Steven Mukwala scored the second goal for the hosts in the 32nd minute after Elia Mpanzu had put David Fadlu’s men in the lead ten minutes earlier.
In the second half, the game was a stop start with the North Africans falling on ground at every opportunity in a bit to take steam out of Simba.
Despite the frustration, Simba went on to win 4-1 in penalties with Mukwala among the scorers in the shootout as well.
Other scorers in the shootout for Simba included Ahoua, Denis Kibu and Shomari Kapombe with Ben Youssef the only Al Masry player to convert.
Simba will now face the winner between South Africa’s Stellenbosch and Zamalek.
