Mt. Kipipiri Golf Resort lies on a high attitude, located in Nyandarua county at the foot of the Aberdare mountains, falling in the tourist circuit connecting Nairobi and the northern circuit of Isiolo, Marsabit and Laikipia.

Gracefully seated on an elevation of 3,349 m (10,988 feet), this facility is arguably the highest golf course in East Africa and ranks among the top five in the African continent.

This was the venue for the 2025 Victoria Cup; an annual golf championship between Uganda and Kenya.

Uganda who were coached by Flavia Namakula amassed 14 points to win coveted trophy, with Kenya finishing on 11.5 points.

The results could not easily depict the fierce rivalry, tense moments and edge cutting golf that these two countries played over three days.

On the opening day, Uganda broke the tip of the ice-berg with a point advantage, winning 4 to 3.5.

In the foursomes, Kenya won 3-1 before Uganda paid back in the same currency to triumph in the four-ball-better ball 3.5 to half point for Kenya.

During the second round, Uganda white-washed Kenya 4-0 in the foursomes competition; extending the lead to 8 points and Kenya remained on 3.5.

The four-ball-better ball competition on day two was a stalemate; 2-points apiece.

This left Uganda ahead on 10 points; Kenya with 5.5 points ahead of the last round.

Then came the final day of the singles competition. Kenya won the day 6-4 but it was Uganda with the last smile with 14 points to Kenya’s 11.5 points.

The golf fraternity in Uganda warmly welcomed the triumphant team of players on Monday morning at the Uganda Golf Club, Kampala.

Uganda Golf Union president Dr. Jackson Were received the team players, flanked by the Sheema Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Dickson Kateshumbwa, an ardent golfer himself.

Each member of the team received a token of appreciation (amount undisclosed per person).

“We are glad for the victory in the 2025 Victoria Cup. We prepared well and there was a good balance of the team with the young and experienced players” Joseph Cwinywa-ai, the team captain remarked.
