CAVB Zone V Championship | Result

  • APR 3-1 Police
  • (26-24, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21)

APR Men’s Volleyball Club and Police were the best clubs in the just concluded CAVB Zone V Club Championship and a mammoth contest was expected in the final.

But APR outclassed Police as the two giants clashed to crown the volleyball feast. APR registered a 3-1 victory in a thrilling clash at Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala on Tuesday.

APR needed to come from four points down (9-5) in the game’s opening period. Their massive net defence was their biggest weapon as they edged Police (26-24).

Matheus Aparecido Bettim turned up in the second set leading Police back into the game. They managed to gather a few unanswered points to lead (25-19) the second set.

APR regrouped and stood tall and strong to take the third set (25-18). Just like the case was in the opening set, APR staged a massive defensive combination to hold back Police’s attack.

Police hardly threatened in the final set, thus allowing APR to run away with the block but eventually the bragging rights as well. They were joined by their female counterparts who had earlier clinched the gong in the ladies’ category.

In the classification game, Rwanda’s REG made light work of Uganda’s Sport-S as they secured a 3-1 victory.
