The 2025 National Bridge League, organized by the Uganda Bridge Federation, is shaping up to be a fiercely competitive affair as the ten-team tournament progresses.

Following two gripping rounds of play, MUK Bridge Club has surged to the top of the standings.

They have overtaken early frontrunners Ndejje Mavericks 2, while Ndejje Mavericks 1 and Kyambogo Bridge Club remain hot on their heels.

The league kicked off on February 22, 2025, at Victoria University, setting the stage for an exciting season.

After the first round, Ndejje Mavericks 2 led the pack with an impressive 221.54 Victory Points (VPs), closely followed by Muk Bridge 1 with 218.74 VPs.

However, the second round, held on March 1, 2025, at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Kabojja campus, proved to be a game-changer.

In a highly anticipated showdown, MUK Bridge 1 faced off against Ndejje Mavericks 2, dominating the match by winning 8 out of the 10 boards played.

This commanding performance propelled MUK Bridge 1 to first place with a total of 430.69 VPs.

Ndejje Mavericks 1, a separate team from the same club, climbed to second place with 425.72 VPs, while Ndejje Mavericks 2 slipped to fifth position with 413.8 VPs after the loss.

The shake-up in the rankings has intensified the competition, with Muk Bridge Club now firmly in the driver’s seat as the league prepares for its next round.

Ndejje Mavericks Bridge Clubs, fielding three strong teams, continue to pose a significant threat, while Kyambogo Bridge Club remains a contender to watch in the tightly contested standings.

The National Bridge League, a highlight of Uganda’s growing bridge scene, showcases the strategic prowess and teamwork of the country’s top players.

Bridge, a trick-taking card game played with a standard 52-card deck, has gained popularity in Uganda, particularly among University communities, thanks to efforts by the Uganda Bridge Federation to promote the sport.

The league is set to return on March 15, 2025, at Makerere University, where MUK Bridge 1 will look to solidify their lead.

With Ndejje Mavericks 1 and 2 determined to reclaim their footing and Kyambogo Bridge Club eager to make a move, the upcoming round promises more thrilling action.

As the competition heats up, all eyes will be on these top teams as they vie for supremacy in the 2025.
