51st Stanbic Uganda (Round of 32):
- NEC 0-2 Blacks Power
- Bushenyi Veterans 1-3 Gaddafi
FUFA Big League entity Blacks Power Football Club has qualified to the round of 16 of the 51st edition in the Stanbic Uganda Cup competition.
This followed a 2-0 victory over top tier side NEC Football Club during the round of 32 duel at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Two second half goals from Innocent Maduka and Joshua Omara guided Blacks Power to a famous victory.
Maduka scored the opener after 58 minutes before teenager Omara found the second with 9 minutes to climax the game.
NEC faltered the opportunity to take the lead when Paul Mucureezi was judged to have had a double touch on the ball in the 53rd minute.
The result has come as one of the biggest shocks in this year’s competition given the different levels of these two clubs.
NEC were also last year’s losing finalists; falling 0-1 to Kitara in the final played at Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium.
Meanwhile, Gaddafi bundled out Bushenyi Veterans 3-1 during a contest played at the Kampala Quality Primary School playground.
Samuel Kawawa Junior, Duncan Sseninde and Ronald Bithum scored the goals for Allan Kabonge’s coached team in a space of three minutes of the opening stanza.
KCCA ejected Kuluva 2-1 during the other contest in Arua city, West Nile. Derrick Nsibambi scored a brace for visiting KCCA.
The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup qualifies to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
