Clubman rally champion Musa Ssegaabwe has found life in the National category rough too early in the season.

Ssegaabwe got his season off to a shocker on leg one on Friday in Mbarara.

An off in the morning stage would spoil the start for him.

“The note came in late when we were entering the medium right. By the time it came, it was too late and I was on a high speed. I tried to down shift but I could not do anything.”

“There were a lot of fans in the area. If I had tried to carry on, I would have rammed into them. So I tried to negotiate a corner and we were hit by a bank which put us off,” explained Ssegaabwe.

The CRC champion shared how hurting the moment was after the incident.

“I almost cried after we went off. It hurts. We are consoled that we can do a restart. But it cannot feel the same.”

“Our target was to finish top five by day one. But now it is impossible with a big penalty which we carried,” he added.

Ssegaabwe was promoted to the NRC category this year and Mbarara rally is going to be his first full event.

His performance in a full event was highly anticipated having made the highlights of last season with a sublime performance.

Yasin Nasser topped leg one of the Lumala @60 Mama @90 birthday rally with yet another thrilling performance edging Ronald Sebuguzi with …seconds into the second leg.

The event resumes on Saturday with five stages before the eventual winner is announced.
