
FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers

Uganda’s mission to qualify for the second round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers was accomplished in style.
A convincing 18-1 aggregate victory over the two legs (both played at the Hamz stadium, Nakivubo) was all Uganda posted past a hapless Namibian opposition.
The first leg ended 10-0 on Thursday, 16th January 2025 and the second 8-1 in favour of Uganda.
Joan Kizza Namulindwa scored a hat-trick during the second leg. Rinah Ariho, Isabella Blick, Shadia Nabirye, Nakalema and an own goal by Renalda Angel Tamara were the other goals for Uganda.




Namibia had their consolation scored through Shiwovanchu Haukongo in the 68th minute.
Sheryl Botes Ulanda, head coach for Uganda U-17 national team hailed the character and effort of the team to whip Namibia and awaits a perfect test against Kenya.
“We are happy for the performance against Namibia in both legs. We expect a tougher test against Kenya who have been at the FIFA World Cup. We therefore need to prepare well (find the players) because it will not be easy,” Botes remarked.


Hafeni Victor Ndeitunga, the head coach for Namibia U-17 team saluted team Uganda for the overwhelming performance, citing an improved display in the second leg.
“We played well in the second leg than the first. Uganda was far better than us in many aspects with a very good coach (educated). We return home with lessons to improve our game. These two games showed us where we are as a country and COSAFA as a region,” Ndeitunga revealed.
Uganda now makes the grade to second round where they meet a tougher opponent, Kenya come March 2025.
