The interesting MTN Monthly Tees golf championships at the par-71 Entebbe Club returned for 2025.
As many as 120 golfers braved the hot weather conditions at the lakeside 1901 golfing facility.


Deputy speaker for the Parliament of Uganda Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa was among the day’s players.

Playing off handicap 20, Rt. Hon. Tayebwa believes such monthly tees help to polish up his game.
“Such tournaments as the MTN Monthly Tee are beneficial to me, first of all for health benefits. I also look forward to lowering my handicap from 20 downwards,” Rt. Hon. Tayebwa remarked.



By close of business, Peace Hellen (handicap 29) emerged as the overall winner with 64 nett.
The ladies winner was Maxi Byenkya (handicap 19) with 69 countback victory.




The seniors (55 years +) cluster was won by Steven Kitamirike (handicap 27) with 71 on countback.
Gordon Obitre Gama (handicap 20) was the guest top performer with 69 nett.




Group top performers:
Andrew Baguma (handicap 6) won group Amen with 70 ahead of Robbins Mwehaire (71).
Group B winner men was Daniel Opwonya (handicap 17) with 69 nett, a shot better than Stephen Paul Ojambo (70 nett, countback).




Group C winner men was Dejan Stepanovic (handicap 20) with 68 nett coming top of John Ssebuliba (70, countback).
Entebbe Club chairperson Eng. Jacob Byamukama anticipates a great golfing year with a number of events lined up at the historic event.
In the same vein, Byamukama lauds the members, sponsors and all supportive partners that have stood with Entebbe Club time and again.
“Happy new year to you all. 2025 is here and we expect a great golfing year at Entebbe year. I salute all the media, members, sponsors, partners and the media for the collective duty to see Entebbe Club grow through leaps and bounds,” Byamukama stated.






The next MTN Monthly Tee will take place in February.
The points are cumulative until the end of the year with the MTN Grand Tee of Tees happening in December.
The players’ scores for the best 8 events of the year count for the overall prize.
