Ibrahim Kasule will have an opportunity to break all-time goal scoring at New York Red Bulls II after he was handed a two new year contract.
The club announced that Kasule, formerly with Wakiso Giants in the Uganda Premier League had extended his time with the United States club after his initial deal had expired.
“We are happy to have [Ibrahim] Kasule back with the squad” said Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya “He is a talented midfielder that has a nose for the goal, and we are excited to keep him with our club.”
With this, Kasule who has 22 goals and tied with Jared Stroud for the second all-time leading goal scorer in the club history now has a chance to even score more and break the all-time record.
He has been a hit since joining the club scoring the most goals in a single season, 15, earned himself a place in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Best XI as well as two MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month awards in July 2023 and March 2024.
He tallied seven goals in seven matches from June 6 to July 31, 2023, which is tied for the longest streak in franchise history. Kasule made his MLS NEXT Pro debut on April 9, 2023, against Columbus Crew 2.
The attacking midfielder has already made two appearances for the Uganda National Team during 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. He made his national team debut on October 13, 2023, against Algeria.
His compatriot Steven Sserwadda is the next line of a new contract according to reliable sources.
