Uganda She Cranes face Zimbabwe in opener | 2024 Africa Netball Cup

Uganda’s National Netball Women’s Team (She Cranes) will face Zimbabwe in their opening 2024 Africa Netball Cup duel at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund municipality, Namibia.

The throw-off is long awaited following the successful arrival in Namibia, and all the players are ready to give their “A” performance in the championship.

Uganda’s coaches Nelson Bogere and Nourredine Kato have expressed the readiness for the team to play all the way for the coveted trophy.

“We are set for the tournament. We traveled safely and have since settled in well with a number of sessions,” Bogere remarked.

Defender Sandra Nambirige, the last player to reach in Namibia has also expressed readiness to compete.

“I traveled well to join the teammates. It was a successful journey. I managed to conduct the recovery drills and took part in the other drills. We are ready,” Nambirige stated.

Uganda is in Pool 2 alongside Zimbabwe, hosts Namibia and Eswatini.

Pool 1 has South Africa, Malawi, Zambia and Kenya.

Lesotho pulled out of the women’s championship.

The teams in the male category include hosts Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya and Eswatini.

Format of Play

The matches will last for 15 minutes each quarter with two intervals of 4 minutes and a half-time recess of 8 minutes.

The top two per group will qualify for the semifinals and eventual finals.

For the males; the final will be between positions 1 and 2 on the log.
