Buweekula secured the bronze at the 2024 Buganda Masaza Cup football tournament.
This was after a well-deserved 3-1 win over Kyadondo in the third-place playoff match at Mandela National Stadium on Saturday, 2nd November 2024.
Lethal forward Shafik Nyanzi struck a hat-trick in the morning duel, a curtain raiser before the grand finale between Buddu and Kyaggwe.
Second-half substitute Datham Mubiru was on target for Kyadondo to attain their consolation.
Before a mammoth crowd in the stands, Buweekula set their mission clear with a dominant performance as soon as kick-off.
Nyanzi’s opener came on the 12th minute after a great inter-play involving impressive midfielder Amour Munogera.
Seven minutes later, Nyanzi finished off to double Buweekula’s lead and establish a 2-0 lead by the mandatory halftime recess.
The third goal was a well-struck penalty in the 70th minute to cap the icing on the already-baked cake.
Datham Mubiru, a second-half substitute for Kyadondo, powerfully headed home an inviting cross from the left for their only goal with 17 minutes to play.
Buweekula finished third place to take home bronze and a cash prize of Ugx 7,000,000 with Kyadondo settling for Ugx 5,000,000.
The final between Buddu and Kyaggwe will climax the championship that was rekindled in 2004.
Gomba Ssaza is the record champion with five titles to their name tag.
